Expect more deflation in Japan. The consumer price measure favored by the BOJ probably fell for a ninth straight month in April on lower mobile phone charges. Consensus is for ex-food CPI to drop 0.2% year on year, compared with 0.1% in March. The fall in headline CPI may widen to 0.5% from 0.2%. Bloomberg Economics said declines will ease going forward on higher energy prices.
