Meta's New AI image Generator was Trained on 1.1 Billion Instagram and Facebook Photots
Meta recently released a free standalone AI image generator website called "Imagine with Meta AI," which is based on its Emu image synthesis model. The AI model was trained on 1.1 billion publicly visible Facebook and Instagram images, allowing it to render a novel image from a text prompt.
The technology was previously only available in messaging and social apps like Instagram. Users can create images using the new website, but it requires a Meta account, which can be imported from an existing Facebook or Instagram account. The generated images include a small "Imagined with AI" watermark logo in the lower left-hand corner.
The AI model generally creates photorealistic images well, but it has some limitations in handling different media outputs and text rendering. It also filters out certain topics but allows commercial characters.
